Mine does the same thing. The first time it happened, I discovered that the distributor cap and rotor were both in pretty bad shape. Since I'd had to abandon the car50 miles away, I travelled there with a can of starting fluid and new dist/rotor. It started right up.
This was over the rainy Thanksgiving weekend here in California, and it has worked fine since...until yesterday morning. Same exact problem, only it stalled when I was about 100 yards from home, accelerating at low revs and stalling in the middle of a busy intersection. Then, it wouldn't start again.
Pushed the beast to the side of the road, got the trusty starting fluid from the trunk and got it running after about five minutes.
I'll be chacking plug wires and plugs next. I'm ashamed to say I've looked at neither since I bought the car nearly a year ago...
