Also with battery disconnected check continuity from pin 1 to ground. If it's shorted, could be pinched wire or bad module (I understand these modules are very reliable). The module acts like points (see my earlier tirade re: coil). Terminal 1 shound be grounded for the dwell peroid and then released for spark. If the wire is not shorted, can someone lend you an ignition module to try? (I don't have an extra).

I tested as you suggested-pin 1 to ground is OK. Am not surte what I should test for, though, on the lead from the distributer. Cannot find a replacement (known good) to attempt to switch out the module. Does anyone know how to test these, if it is indeed possible. I really don't want to spend $250 to find out the module is not defective.
