: : : How different are the distributors on the M535 vs the '80 528i. I ran across this distributor part number 12-11-1-304-908 in a list of parts for sale. The dealer claims this is for a M535. Is this true!!!

: : Dan,
: : To quote Gregory Bradbury's parts list on the Fast Five web site:
: : http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/Downs/5008/m_index.html
: :
: : Ignition distributor 12 11 1 304 908 Bosch 0 237 302 008 M535i, 635CSi & 735i
: : So indeed the part # the dealer gave you is correct. As far as the advance curve
: : I'm not sure, maybe ask Greg (e-mail me for his address) as he has owned the car for several
: : years.
: As I understand the Euro 528i distibutor is even more aggresive, (advance curve is earlier). I'm not sure if that's what you want.
: My technical data fiche doesnt't have the curves, I wonder who has them?

- At the moment I'm running a Euro 3.3 using the 528i ignition and fuel setup. Since installation of this setup I have always wundered what effect a Euro distributor and ECU would have on performance. I used a Euro distributor on a 530i for many years and was happy with the result. I'm planning on swapping the 3.3 for a 3.5 which is in the construction stage. Any pointers appreciated.
