Does A/C have more than one fan speed???

I bought a 1980 528i and it has factory A/C. Yet I can
get it to only blow at this one low speed. I seems to
be working fine, and the rest of the fan speeds I can
change, yet for some reason, I can't manage to get the
A/C fan to blow faster....Any suggestions on these old
A/C fans and such?? Much appreciated...
