I recently bought a 1978 530i parts car. My 1981 528i is blowing oily smoke at start-up. I suspect it is the valve guides. Will the 530i head fit on my 528i motor? The 530i head has a casting stamp that says "80". Is the old style head - prone to cracking? Or is it the new style head? Is there any way of determining whether it is "old" or "new" style other than the casting date? Thank you in advance for your expertise.
