for comparison, i just moved my mm ss-kit from the old '80 to the new '81 528i. i replaced what uuc calls the sheet metal bushings with factory parts at the same time (also did the guibo as it needed replaced). it's back to no slop shifting. wonderful. my experience is that these bushings last 30-40k when bathed in a continual stream of oil leaking from the rear head seal. so i figure in another 6-8 years i'll have to replace them again. i have approx 50k on the mm ss-kit and it shows no wear.

ps - this was the only thing i ever got from mm that was right the first time.
