: Actually, about 2 years ago my dad replaced the clutch master AND slave cyl. Could they have gone bad in only 2 years???? I'll have him take a look at it though.
If you haven't had the fluid changed regularly, it is possible for it to absorb moisture, corroding the bore of both master and slave cylinders. The corroded bore is excellent sandpaper for the seals. Because of the longer stroke of clutch vs brakes, I think the fail more often. Check for leaking fluid around master (wet rug). In 14 years, I've forgotton but I think 2 of each.
