: If you haven't had the fluid changed regularly, it is possible for it to absorb moisture, corroding the bore of both master and slave cylinders. The corroded bore is excellent sandpaper for the seals. Because of the longer stroke of clutch vs brakes, I think the fail more often. Check for leaking fluid around master (wet rug). In 14 years, I've forgotton but I think 2 of each.

If no brake fluid is evident, I would try bleeding the clutch hydraulics one more time. They can be very difficult to rid of air. In fact, pressure back-bleeding seems to work best.
