I Condition: engine is cold from the night then is subjected to early morning start. Engine starts, cold enrichment circuit active, idle speed 100rpm with AC unit on.
Problem: Engine suddenly stops while idling, no amount of cranking would make it start not untill battery terminal was disconnected for 45-120 secs. then reconnected again.
Note: Engine behaves this way only when in cold idle, when cold start enrichment circuit is active.
Any guesses?
II Condition: Engine is very warm, temp is about 200degs F. I stopped the engine to top off the coolant level, bled the system briefly. After which, temp came down to normal, engine is re-started.
Problem: Engine dies while shifting to 3rd gear. Did not want to re-start. Battery terminal disconnected for 1 min. Engine re-started sccessfully. No indications of problems for 1.5 mins. then engine dies while shifting to 4th gear
Note: Engine was allowed to cool for 90 mins before resetting the battery. I was worried that it was not able to cool adequately earlier despite the reading on the guage. Car starts without problems since.
Question: Are the stalls temp related? Electrical? Where should I look?
Thank you in advance.
