Just putting in a K&N air filter element into the stock airbox (compared with a very good condition stock used airfilter) is worth about 3 bhp at the rear wheels. Taking an E28 Kirbin air snorkle and making the very minor mods needed to fit an E12 gets you roughly 2 more hp.
Without turning this into a sales pitch, I have done 34 dyno runs on my E12 testing every conceivable botl on goodie and am now beginning the process all over again with the 218hp Euro engine.
