hello,
well its that time of year again. and i cant seem to stop doing things to my car(s).
as most of you know i have just finished the conversion on my 80' 528i to the 88' 535i engine
complete with motronics and all.and thanks to all of you who helped me with my postings.
the new new lady of the night lives fast and furrious. but alas a gremlin has attacked already.
i need some help in the electronics department. i seem to have a lighting problem. when the head lights are off the instrument lights work . but when the headlights are turned on the instrument lights namly the lights that tell me what gear i'am in promptly go off. i have turned the car upside down looking for the problem and all i have been able to find is that from the fuse box there is a blk/vio wire coming from the fuse that handles the turn signels and such, that had a home with a relay that i will do my best to describe here. the relay had a grn wire from the batt. a grn wire from fuse 14 (high beem relay i think). a pink possibly faded from red, wire that comes from the acc. on position and the afformentioned blk/vio wire. this assembly was a add on due to the fact that the relay was not bmw. i had to dissconect the setup to get the new engine to run using the pink acc. on wire and conecting it to the blk/vio(so as to keep the turn signels and my wipers) and a grn wire coming from the new engine main relay so the car could start. i the am left with a grn wire from the fuse box (it's the bottom one in the second row from the front of car) with no home.
i kindly thank all who can help.
not having a decent wire schematic this took all day sunday to work on.
p.s. this is for the rev. if you read this the e28 electric seats are night and day to the old ones in my favor real sweet setup. i got the leather sport seats from a 88' 535i i highly recomend those seats. there bucket style in the back so your friends don't go flying.
