The license plate alone makes Steve's 1981 528i a great "Car of the Month". He bought it last year for $400. It was in sad shape. The wiper arms were broken. Someone had spray-painted the car green. The engine smoked and the valve cover leaked.
In the last year, he has replaced the entire interior. At that time, leather seats were installed in place of the original cloth ones. The new sheepskins protect the front seats nicely and look good. The stereo is an Alpine CD player with Blaupunkt speakers and amplifier. The subwoofer is from Kenwood.
The wheels have been restored with Wurth wheel paint. The suspension was rebuilt with Bilstein shocks and springs. Steve's future plans include Eibach springs, cross-drilled rotors, stainless steel brakelines, chrome wheels, and replacement of the stainless steel trim. "This is my first Bimmer. It was an awesome project. Thanks for giving us E12 owners a place to find info and entertainment.
