Anyone know where master control unit for power door locks can be located on 1981 e12?

The master control is the unit in the driver's door. It's a master switch that controls the other 3 doors, the trunk and the gas door.
There is also an inertia switch above the glove box that trips in the event of an accident and unlocks everything.

So, that's what that thing in the foreground, slightly out of focus is.

That's the intertia switch. The rest of the controller is the switch in the driver's door connected to the lock

And it looks like it's just another power lock, but it's not, it is the control unit and has no motor in it at all, it just uses the spring to "unlock" the drivers door if you try to lock it with the door open.

The switch in Christopher's pic looks like it is engaged / enabled. Pushed in (down) sticks out about 3/8 in.
