What would expect the oil pressure to be on a 190k 528i

I'm getting 70-75 @1,000 rpm ,150 psi @3,000 cold
20-25 @1,000 rpm, 50 psi @3,000 hot

Those numbers look pretty good to me.

Where are you measuring it? I believe the rear of the head where the sender is naturally located is probably worst case (lowest). I have a mechanical gauge in the oil filter mount that always reads higher.

I've never seen above about 80 psi - that's cold start, cold weather, with a 15W-50 or even 60W oil and measured at the oil filter mount.

I agree with Robert that the number look better than ok, they look good to me. However on placement of the pressure switch I disagree. You want to know you have pressure in the worst point, not the best.

We agree on that too - best place to measure is location of lowest oil pressure. I was just saying rear of head seems to give worst case scenario.

Thanks for the inputs. I just wanted to make sure the pressures I was seeing were in spec before I troubleshoot a blinking oil pressure sender. Better to know its the sensor before low oil pressure kills the engine.
