metal "tabs" bolted next to motor mount on subfram

My subframe had some extra metal on it next to where the motor mounts go.
I don't see these parts listed on the part diagrams, I'm guessing they are there to "support" the engine in case the motor mounts fail?
Should I keep them on? Any insight into the function of these items?[/i]

Just in front of and next to the motor mounts? I think they're there in case the motor mounts get soft and tired. I had a Bav one time, same type of motor mounts and engine suspension, without those tabs, that had been hit in the front. Clearance was reduced to maybe 3/8 of an inch, possibly slightly less, but not much. Eventually if I hit the brakes hard, I could hear the fan hit the radiator.

Never did any damage, but the engine moved enough with old soft mounts so contact was made.

That makes sense!
Did they stop including these tabs for some reason?
I guess Ill leave them on.
Almost rolling again....

The 2002 has something similar. On those (as far as I recall), it is a known issue that the fan can run in to the radiator, if the 'stops' are not properly adjusted or missing.
