the whining noise when i start the car is a complete turn off. I dont know if any of you gents have this 'security feature' but how do you get rid off it? Any help or suggestions?

Trying to be helpful, not insulting.

If, when I've had a mysterious noise becoming annoying, the solution has been a stubborn audio search. Open the bonnet (hood), jack the car, start the engine, have a helper do it, shut it down, go nuts doing whatever it takes to find the noise.

A contest of will. Never had any success describing tweety's, chirping or tick, tick, ticks to friends for immediate fixes.

It is an electrical issue why would I jack the car up? anyways i was asking for help because i obviously already tried to search for a remedy personally, otherwise I wouldn't be here. You haven't already told me something that I don't know myself, appreciate your response Mr, Hanson.

Over twenty years visiting this clubhouse I've concluded there are large differences in the experience levels of members posting questions. Including mine way back then, and even now.

For me the lure of posting has been the ease and access to expert advice, without having to search through volumes of books. At the same time I've read questions on proper tire inflation, to think, "It's printed in raised letters on the sidewall !?"

In the great middle is risk of answering questions perceived as, "Been there, done that or I wouldn't be asking," to a thank you for suggesting adding oil as the remedy for the dash light's being on.

At least I didn't get scorched. Oh, and I've had to get under the car to hear where noises are coming from, electrical, mechanical or vegetable.

Well I guess it's the subtleties that can throw even the most experienced personel off.

again to reiterate the noise is coming from behind the dash when you begin to turn the car on, I am truly at a loss because i am not wanting to take apart the dash (barely got the odometer working again) if their is an alternative action I can take to discontinue the chirping noise I will be grateful.
FYI i have done numerous amounts of work on my car from converting to euro bumpers to rebuilding my brakes to replacing the guibo, to upgrading the fuel pump system, etc etc., just because I need help on something that might not be my forte does not mean I am a whimsical character trying to perpetuate a quick fix. I need help, i come to the forum. I thought thats what it was for?

I'm hooked. Checking in daily to see if an electrical guru tells you where to pound or what to giggle to silence the canary. So I can know the trick when one makes a nest behind my dash.

I share your aversion to electrics. Massive wire bundles, all colors, stripes, wiring diagrams I have a hard time following with a red pen.

It happened the heater blower dial quit last winter. This summer it magically went on again. Then off. Reading the FAQ, ha ha, ho ho, it shows the back of the heater insert with all of the connections, wires removed save the dial. I'll just say to get to that point, probably having to eventually fool with the dial in the car, I'd rather go to dental school and pull my own wisdom teeth.

How about if we don't want to access behind the dash, work the turn signal, wiper levers, turn all buttons, pound the dash in various places, make sure the ashtray isn't full of nest twigs and feathers, check the glove box, or blow the horn on start up to not hear the chirping ?

like when you turn the key to on or in starter engage position? constant or does it go away?
chirping? first you said baby noise, did you mean baby bird?
my blower fan chirps due to rubbing on plastic housing, maybe Ill fix that later today.

lol are you taking about the like the buzzing sound?

I'm pretty sure that come from a relay either under the steering wheel or in the column itself. I dont think you need to take apart the dash exactly...

side note for Mr. Hanson-- regarding your blower dial, I noticed on my car the blower motor will NOT work if the AC controls are turned on at all- on my car at least. Maybe this is your issue??

The a/c has never worked. Windows, sunroof work great. I don't wear a suit often enough to bother with the R-34, other messing around.

So far the old fuse that looked fine but wasn't was the problem. Several tests while driving since, the blower works fine.

yes CBradio, it is the buzzing noise when your first start your car. I've started to look into it, i took the kickpanel out but i cant locate the source of the sound. It sounds like its coming from behind the gauges. Im a really busy man i know i said id get to it like 3 weeks ago. lol work in progress.
