howdy
My previous 4 speed manual transmission developed a difficulty between 1, 2 and 3 rd gear. We took it appart and replaced a worn bearing, but it didn't really cure the changing gear difficulty. ( I ended up cracking the shifter bracket and getting a sore left shoulder ( RHD car))

Being on the Edge of world here in Western Australia, manual BMW's are a rarity!
I ended up getting another 4 speed tranny for $500 AU from east coast.

Now I am tempted to open it up again and see what needs replacing - ie synchros.

Can internal parts for these 4 speed manual transmission Getrag 262 still be got, where from and what's the likely cost.

Gary, I have a 4 speed sitting here (ACT) minus bellhousing. was in good working order before I upgraded to a 5-speed. You can have it if you cover freight, if you want it for spares. Ben

Im interested in your 4 speed.

How did you get a 5 speed? overdrive or dogleg.

The 5-speed was in a donor E12 I bought, it's an OD box. I've got it mated to a 3.07 LSD and it's a dream.

You're welcome to the 4-speed, got any freight contacts? Closest commercial depot to me is Mitchell ACT 2911. Also got other bits I can chuck in, PM me if you like. I'm moving house and want to clear the shed.
