Do any still show up at wreckers there? Is there still at least one wrecker in Cal that has older cars that never got crushed?

They've gotten to be rare even here. I'm sure not as rare as in Canada or most places, but still rare.

I was looking at the Bulletin Board archives and back in 1999, as you would expect, there was a lot more traffic on First Fives compared to today. Traffic back then seemed similar to the e28 forum today. Of course back then the e12 was just a cheap old car, still relatively easy to find in the drier climes.

Then again, if you do come across an e12 today it's normally in very good shape, which wasn't the case oftentimes in 1999.

It's very rare to see one up here in Manitoba and there are none at the wreckers. There are still a few nice ones in British Columbia. The odd one pops up in Ontario but that is in the rust belt. Greece and Romania seem to be asking high prices for parts on Ebay.
