1978 BMW 530i: Going to replace my power steering pump due to my breaking one of bolt ears on current pump while changing fluid. Obtained used pump and had it rebuilt. Looking at replacing suction hose section. Question : calls for 16x22 will 5/8 inch suffice , Is Uro brand hose as sketchy as some of their other stuff.
I’m not replacing pressure hose as looks good a was advised if seems all right and if no problems, due to cost , go with it.
Thank;
Fred.

Any of the above will work. While I suspect there is some suction applied to it, very little, the original hose isn't particularly stiff. URO rubber seems to be better than many of it's other products, I had a Windshield rubber in my last E12 for a dozen years or so until I sold it, no leaks and still soft. E28 guys have found the trunk gasket to be better than the BMW one. The suction hose is a very non critical application.

Consider having a local hydraulic shop rebuild your existing hoses(s). It’s often an easy option.

Nothing to rebuild on the suction hose, it's just plain hose, not high pressure hose, held on with hose clamps.

Ah, I missed that detail!
