Headlight bulb mounting

The bowls for the bulbs only mount one way that I see. Little spring, two adjuster bolt stems for the plastic adjusters. There are notches in the bowls that look like they'd love to line up with the glass protrusions on the back of the bulbs.
But they don't. Correct ? Unless we don't care if the bulbs are cattywompus, grids at a 45 degree angle, etc. I gave up and just clamped the bulbs in with the rings.
Maybe Euro bulbs are different.

Admittedly, I've got Euro lamps, but I think they are the same.
The lamp has raised "tabs" that match up with the notches in the bowl. The lamp is then held in by the chrome ring. Maybe you've got the wrong lamp?
Cheers

If you're talking E code H1/H4 lamp assemblies, mine have always lined up fine. Is it possible you've had the buckets apart and have a high beam on the low beam side or vise versa? I think they have the notches at different points to try and prevent mismounting.

Why yes, it is possible I took the buckets apart, and didn't notice the tiny detail about the inny outy high beam, low beam notchy wotchy's.
Do over # 6. I've lost track.. Guibo bolts, heater pipe, alternator bracket, harmonic balancer off / on, shifter mount, lucky there's you undoing *@#! things.

O'Reilly sold me a high beam from their catalog, the raised glass bumps match the position of the others. All bulbs look U.S., Sylvania, G.E. etc., no Lucas (?!), euro brands.
Closer pot matching, there is a method to the madness, way they go best, symmetrically side to side. As in two of three bulb notches match up for a semi better fit. Far as I can tell the last notch is just not in the right place. Probably your H1/H4 replacement spec being ignored at the counter.
One must pay very close attention to details when taking things apart.
