That hose on your valve cover is just that, a hose (elbow to be more exact). There is no PCV valve. The entire crankcase of this engine is supposed to be air tight so no un-metered air can get in and upset the mixture - mainly at idle.

This hose needs to be inspected for cracks or splits & changed out if any are found.

Items often overlooked like seals or pan gaskets, if leaking, can make for a lumpy idle.

What I don't understand is what happens if the engine has excessive blow-by? I guess blow-by isn't a problem at idle?
