Its time to do some repairs but first its time for some advice. Last year at this time, my 1980 528i would start fine. This year, the longer the car sits, the longer it takes for it to start. Also, when it is running, it is a little doggy at first until it warms up. I am left to believe this is the fuel injectors being dirty. After a sluggish start i can almost feel individual cylinders kicking in one by one. Starting after a day takes about 10 seconds for it to finally start, then its at a choked out 100 rpm and gradually up to a decent 1100 warm up. How many things should I test/check before i finally get to pulling the injectors to have them checked. I have done the injector lines before, its not a fun job to say the least.
Fuel pressure regulator? Fuel filter will be changed but I doubt that would cause this. New distributor/wires/plugs are a year old. Cold start valve is new, aux air valve too. K&N filter, charcoal filter, bellows/hoses on mass air flow, thats all been done. new coolant sensors also. help me to cure this starting/warm up period.
