Does anyone have a schematic for the wiring on the ignition switch? I have an odd problem where-in the colder the outside temperature, the more likely the "start" position of the switch will not work. If I hold my tongue just right, plead with the Deities and perservere I can get the circuit complete and start the car..or rather engage the starter. It's been so cold that the switch is now also stiff and doesn't return to the "run" position of it's own accord. Things become an game of trying to find the magical "start" spot and then turning the key back to the "run" position without over-shooting it. It took 10 minutes (and a lot of cursing) to get the car started this morning.
My plan is to take one of my extra column harnesses and instead of having a key on the end of it I'll build a switch panel with a toggle and a start button. So - anyone with the schematic ('81 528i) that they're willing to share?
