Yea, it's a fairly common problem.
If ignored, it will get worse.
Anywhere where there is a metal-to-metal contact in the hinge must be cleaned (brake cleaning spray can) and lubricated. I recommend a high quality synthetic grease, but conventional wheel bearing grease works too. Basically, try to prevent any galling of metal contacting surfaces as they rub together.
