i think the e28 lock strip is avail in black. i believe its the same part and should work. however the e12 came w/chrome and to me the chrome is what sets these cars apart from the 'others'. i have an m535i(e12) and the p.o. painted all the chrome trim black. it looks good(kinda e28ish) but it bothers me that its not 'right' i cant wait to change it out. i tried to remove the paint , but the p.o. sanded the chrome and its all scratchy now. to me it was definatly a downgrade.
