FYI;
This car is for sale about 4 blocks from me; I went for a look even though it is an automatic. What I observed/was told:
1. 230,000 miles.
2. Three owners; an airline pilot, his son and his son's friend. The pilot bought it new and drove it for 22 years, California car.
3. A fair amount of documentation up to the 2nd owner. No major engine work in the docs that I saw.
4. No rust. Anywhere. The spare tire well is clean enough to drink out of.
5. All windows roll up and down.
6. Pretty dark window tint.
7. Bridgestone Potenzas; 85-90% tread.
8. Transmission seemed to slip a bit when I tried the passing kick-down on the freeway. Felt like it shuddered a tiny bit from a standing start going up a 6% grade on a back road. This may be the diff mount, I could not tell.
9. All the rubber seemed fair, doors closed fine. Interior had no rips; could use some leatherique, though.
The fellow wants $1700 and can be reached at 360-903-9056. He is not an E12 enthusiast; just inherited the car.
I really like the look and feel of the car but also want a 5-speed. I may change my mind and buy it yet.
