I bought a 79 528i on the weekend, an affordable rust free car i'd been looking to find for some time. The car had a cracked head and couldn't be driven. So we changed the head out for a spare non-cracked head I brought, fixed other bits like the fan and wiring, then drove the car 400 miles home all at 80+ miles/h without a hitch. I'm now permanently in debt to these cars thanks to them being easy to fix/work on, and dead reliable.
