Glad to hear the cold idle problem is solved.
One minor annoying problem out of the way.
As far as the AFM; Do a simple diagnostic first. You know where the cable plugs into the AFM?, There is a retaining clip there. Secure a grounding wire to the cable clip. Secure the other end to chassis ground. See if that solves the problem.
If not, then I think I have an extra AFM. You can open it up and check the contacts as Lenny D mentioned.
