I've heard shipping things Parcel Post, in other words the mail, is the way to go. And you may escape duty that way. My one international experience in shipping was by UPS to BC Canada, it was expensive and a pain, plus he had to pay more in duty that I charged him, shipping included. Free Trade isn't for people like us...
Like I said, I haven't done it that way, but you might check it out.
