As you said, I'm my own best salesman. I have a '79 635 Euro Alpina.If they are not rare, they are hard to find in that year, and great condition is $7-10 G's. Then color, interior color etc. After ten years I know my car mechanically, and like it.
It's apart. Even if it's crazy, it seems to me two floor spots, shock towers, inspect and fix everything, anywhere, doing it all the absolute correct way (and some for the experience) is very possible; and not futile, if I do as I said, and don't drive it in winter.
$6,000 to fix mine, or find, buy, swap out, repair another seems like two equal roads to the same destination. ( To which normal people wouldn't go.)
