cluster grab

the cluster is relatively easy to grab.

in case you don't have Haynes (p166):

from memory

(haynes says to disconnect the negative battery lead)

1) remove the facia panel below the dash.
2) remove the bolts that hold the steering column up. i think i remember them pointing straight up. this gives a couple of extra inches that are required to slide the cluster out.
3) disconnect the speedo cable
4) now the odd part, there is a cable coming from the rear center of the inst. cluster that goes straight toward the front (approx 6") of the car to a channel which redirects the cable straight down. The end of this cable is threaded and has this disc/nut thing which you will loosen. Then as you pull the cluster out, it will get caught on everything.
5) unplug the wiring harnesses

and its out. now you can clean the light red light lenses which will make your dash brighter at night.
