that they have to use so many extra polymers to get the variable viscosity, and they tend to burn off and you lose your multi-weight properties.
I read this on a link from our Technical FAQ under "oil." It was very interesting. Since then, I've shyed away from 10-40 and used 10-30 on my minivan.
