Input needed on alternatives to my head issues

Hi Gang,

Ok, so I'm evaluating three options for my head replacement and I'd appreciate your collective opinions.

Option 1: Metric Mechanic high-performance head w/their high-performance cam. This head has all new primo parts inside, but the head casing is refurbished. This head incorporates what MM patented as "Surface Turbulence." I've had conflicting reports from the UUC digest members regarding this head. IOne even said don't do it. Another said that he had the MM head on an e28 535 and that the car would run with M cars and Porsches and that it would eat Mustang GTs for lunch. Difficult to assess with such a wide variance among such a small sampling.

Option 2: Redline Performance BMW will build me a high-performance head w/a used, but good Schrick cam in it. All new parts in the head (except for the cam). The head casing on this option is the AMC Spanish cast head.

Option 3: The shop doing the work on my car will build me a stock spec head, maintaining my Euro cam and installing all new parts in the head. The head casing in this option is BRAND NEW. This would essentially be a BRAND NEW head, excpet for my Euro cam.

Cost: The cost of option 2 & 3 is roughly the same. The difference being that option 2 is a high-performance head (rebuilt), while option 3 is a NEW head, but only to stock spec. Option 1 would be about $800 more than either option 1 or 2.

So what are everybody's opinions? I'm kind of agonizing over this and I just need some guidance. I want to do the best thing for my car.

I appreciate all your input and help on this.

Jim
