OK, the M1(and later M5/M6 blocks) are basically the same as the early euro 3.5l pre 82 blocks .
SO.... the twincam head should fit, given you use the different front timing
covers and other associated parts.
I would doubt that the L-jet system would simply bolt onto the twincam head (different head intake shape??)
As you mentioned most likely it would be as easy to simply buy a complete M engine rather that just the head.
(as rebilding the head is very costly and there HAS to be a reason it's not still on the engine..)
