I just received my 4.4L V8 and 6 spd engine and tranny out of a 97 540i Sport (not the whole car) yesterday. It has 30K miles on it and is complete top to bottom. I will be starting the processes of getting it into my e12 soon, but a few other project come first (basement finish, tile the bathroom, you know how it goes).
Yes, I know I could have bought a number of other complete cars for what I will have in my e12, but I really like my car and I am not interested in owning a "me too" e36 M3, and the thought of 300 HP/330 ftlbs of torque in an well sorted e12 sounds like fun. Besides the motor and tranny combo was a steal and I could not pass it up.
I am planning on starting a site showing the process of install, and YES it will be very involved, but the end result should be stunning and wickedly fast, at least that is where I am heading.
I am looking for suggestions or comments from my "e12 family".
