I recently replaced exhaust manifolds on my 76 and tore out all of the pollution stuff and plugged the egr port on the intake. The car started very hard, wouldn't idle until warm then seemed to hesitate when the throttle opened then would rev up AFTER the throttle was let off. The engine would rev up to 5 - 6 k and sounded better there.
By the way, it ran the same before the work I did, but the pump had always been out and there were lines plugged with duct tape etc. So who knows?
This car has sat since 83 and I know vacuum lines are brittle, but I could not find a vacuum leak (sprayed lines with carb cleaner, this usually will cause a drop in the idle if there is a vacuum condition)
How about the AFM could there be something in here set up, how can I check?
Any suggestions would be helpful!!!
