From a parts car I imagine testing things (to keep) by putting them on a good running car. Try to do compression test on assembled engine. I had a pre '81 head crack without overheating; I wouldn't be prone to put any money into(keeping) those. I'm told if I can't drive a transmission it's either install it with an optomist, or spend a bunch taking it apart.Do '79 - '81 528, 635 4, 5 speeds match up one for one ?
