Some of that may be the CR transmission (stump pulling 1st) and some maybe be your throttle adjustment.
With the car warm (maybe not possible for you until May <-; ), try closing throttle bypass screw all the way then adjust stop screw for 500 rpm. Then open bypass screw to idle correct for that car (900 or so)
See if that makes a difference.
