Hi Peter,

I wasn't aware that the larger engines used a different fuel regulator... I thought all the E12's in stock form used the same (2.5 bar) one.

In my testing of the fuel pressures of my various E12's they were very rock steady at about 35-36 psi (varying of course with manifold pressure) -- no major fluctuations at all.

I would think that a l-jet w/lamba car would "hunt
" for the correct fuel mixture to maintain the needed 14.7:1 ratio at cruise. I remember my old US 528i did.

Of course my euro cars do not....

So Don, what is max pressure coming out of the fuel pump (before the fuel rail)? It should be around 80 psi, from the regulator it should be 35-36, if not your regulator is bad.

PS: I found a nice Mallory adjustable fuel regulator that is adjustable from 3 to 65psi ( for $80 and will fit the E12 with minor mods of the fuel rail). The neat thing is that the nominal fuel pressure is based upon the normal intake vacuum and also in this case boost pressure (+ intake pressure). So the regulator automatically adjusts fuel pressure for a turbo car!

I do not think the standard BMW one will do this
