I went through the discussion below re: headers--most of it is out of my league. My 530i has the remnants of the thermal reactors--an extra pipe, running parallel to the main exhaust manifold. This pipe has a gap in the middle that I have patched with some malleable tin and a couple of clamps--works pretty well but it will burn itself through eventually.
Here are my questions. There's a lot of talk of Bavaria headers. Firstly, are the headers the topmost portion of the exhaust after the block? Will these Bavaria headers (from a donor car) fit on my Five? If so, what's the advantage?
