IMHO, buy a very good set of spark plug wires (Korman 8mm), some fresh Bosch Super plugs, install them and leave the rest alone. The stock system is very very good even as old as it is.
I tried a Jacobs serveral years ago that I bought from Korman. It never did work as well as the stock system even though I used the matching Jacobs coil and bypassed the ignition resistors and all that other ..... I finally replaced the stock coil and undid the wiring changes and threw the Jacobs in the trash. The car ran much better.
