Looking at a 77 530i..new to BMWs..help? !!!

Hi,

I found a BMW real cheap but has been sitting for a couple years. The owner says it ran great back then and something about it won't start normally but if you pull start it..tow and pop the cluth it will?! I guess there is a problem with a "corroded selanoid"..does that sound right? I mean is this possible..it is about 200 miles away and I don't wanna drive out there and get screwed. Apparently there was no mechanical or exterior problems when he parked it a long time ago. Where do I go from here, what do I ask? Is it worth the money? How much does these 530i's for, where can I find more info?
