I'm thinking that the SD5H14 is all that will be available from new stock based on what they are saying. If I had a choice I would buy the SD5H14.
If you already have 508, I think you would get reasonble life from 134 use, but I you gotta buy a new one anyway, get one that's 134 outta the box.
I would go ahead and do the 134 conversion and upgrade condensor fan at the same time.
I wonder what BMP is selling....

: It's hard to say what they really mean. I took it to mean that they built the SD508 for R12, but that you can put R134a in an SD508 if you're doing a conversion on a car that already has a working SD508 and you don't want to spring for a new compressor. (Check their site and see what you think.)

: The SD5H14 info doesn't mention R12 at all period, but says it's built for R134 environments. (Again, check their site and interpret.)

: I recall that the kit is $425. But, you'll need a new dryer (as always) and that's $50. The kit includes the compressor, new fittings to put on hoses you'll have to have made locally using the old ones as a pattern, and a bracket to put the compressor on the engine. But, give Rodd a buzz and see.
