He also seems to be a virtual wizard on the 4HP trans. Seems (I recall) he used to work for BMW. If drilling this hole is possible (I think it's a retrofit during rebuild of the trannys), I would search out Jens for your question. I hear that this pressure relief is somewhat elusive on rebuilt 4HP's, and only a shop that has done the actual rebuild can tell you if they fitted the modification to older 4HP's. There is also a technical bulletin on the problem, from BMW, that surfaces on the E23 board from time to time. I have it in my archives, but it just describes the problem, not details on the fix.
