Long as Hell, sorry. .
Thermactors/EGR
As I will be removing aforementioned equipment, which should be left on?
I know which lines got to the EGR, etc. And The silver box of Mystery Under the snorkel(Drehzahlschalter) along with his little counterpart
is coming off too to make way for a CRANE. The thing I'm leery about is the vacuum retard. Does anyone have the info on how this really works -i.e. is it at all controlled by the Drehzalschalter? I know it can be hooked directly up to the intake, but I'd rather get straight facts then play the guessing
game.(car has a centrifugal/mechanical advance, Vaccum retard)
Therefore, on an Si, all of the RED, WHITE, and BLUE vacuum lines can safely come off. The thing I am concerned about is the BLACK lines. And the Dashpot they are connected to. I have one from the fuel pressure regulator, and one from the distributor for the retard, which runs along the spark plug wire casing on top of the valve cover.
In addition to that, do you know how or where to hook up the vacuum retard? The silver box is a thermo-time switch (I'm guessing) and it controls when the black dashpot opens up to allow for the deceleration (retard) process to take place. (Or is this not how
it works?) If this is disconnected, and a straight line is made from the Vacuum port on the distributor to the intake manifold (which one), How will it affect performance given the constant suction?
Thanks for all of your help - I hope I'm not giving you guys a headache!
