I finally fixed the problem whereby the tacho needle bounces above 4000 revs
The problem was caused by someone perviously incorrectly connecting the Black and two * GreenWhite wires
on the back of the tacho.
Correct wiring is
Black wire connects to pin labelled "1"
Two * GreenWhite wires connect to pin labelled "+"
Brown wire connects the Earth
