I found an 11 tooth gear and 'hacked' it into place. Appears to work. Someone makes a metal replacement (that's what some speedo shops put in for $60-$90). Can't find a source for it.

: Join the club. Very common problem. When you remove the speedo, you will see a large white gear. Look closely. You will see that the shaft is cracked. Usually they just simply stop working, but it is common for them to work until 9.9, whereupon it must move all those wheels, and the crack wins. Then it won't work for awhile, and then it does. Until 9.9 again.
: Send it to a speedo repair shop or grab one in a junkyard. I have a bunch of 85MPH ones around. Or if you want to impress people with how fast you drive, you could put in one of my KPH speedo's. "Hey we're going 120!"
: Especially good if you use your car for work and get paid mileage.
: Or, you could do what most of us do: if the speedo works, who cares about the ODO.
