I'm not sure what you have for a throttle body.
I have a 77 530i and my throttle body looks just like
the 528i set up except for the throttle switch
plate. If I took off the throttle switch plate and
installed the 528i plate w/ switches, I'd have the
528i throttle body assembly. That's exactly my plan
for the lambda conversion coming up. For a 78 530i,
I think your throttle body should look like mine
if it's stock. You should have a 3 pole throttle
switch that connects up with those nice little
multi-terminal plugs on the wiring harness. I know
the 75-76 throttle body was different, but I don't
think 77 and 78 were - could be wrong....
The only part that is really square on mine is
the flange on the throttle body where it interfaces
to the manifold log.
