It's an asset if you can use it and a liability if you lose it. I personally like it because I like to lift throttle to tuck the front in and rotate the rear out. There is a lower speed curve at Willow Springs which is my favorite (turn 4) which starts uphill and ends up downhill. You go into the curve accelerating, but in the middle you lift slightly to get the front to bite and the rear to rotate. When you do it right you'll always hit the apex. It's wonderful.
That said, trailing throttle oversteer gives BMWs their "twitchiness". Therefore you have to be smooth with your lift of the throttle to control it. Lift too fast or hard and bye-bye. This is one reason for using "racing" shoes, the soles are thin and you can feel changes in the acclerator so you can position the car.
