I have a question regarding the 3.5l M30 engine and the 2.8l M30 engine. Its been stated many times that the advantage to this swap besides more power is that there is no weight penalty. I've learned a ton on this board in the past year including much about engines. But I still haven't been able to piece this one together.
So I'll ask, if the block has the same dimensions whether its a 3.5l or a 2.8l, how does it get the extra displacement in the 3.5l? Is the stroke longer? Are the pistons bigger and hence the space between bores is tighter in the 3.5l? Just wondering how this is accomplished.
thanks,
